We are an R2 rated school which means we are viewed as having an increased risk during a Bushfire in comparison to other schools in the metropolitan area. During Bushfire season we monitor the Alert SA app and have the ABC radio broadcasts playing in the school office.

The is also a division in the Department for Education that notify us if there is a local Bushfire that could potentially cause risk to our community. They advise us when we need to enact our Bushfire response. There are times when we see the water bombers, see smoke or hear sirens and we contact them to see what the emergency is and whether we need to respond. Risk of Bushfire is not just about fire spreading to our school but also about exposure to smoke and embers. This is why practicing our Bushfire responses are extremely important and we do so at least once per term. In our school gym we have food and water available should we be in there for an extended amount of time.

We understand that if there is a local fire, families maybe concerned however please do not call the front office as we will be busy enacting our plans and keeping everyone safe. SAPOL, CFS and MFS are aware of the location of our school and will assist in any evacuation from site if needed.
