If your child is unwell, we ask that you keep them home. This gives your child the rest and recuperation needed to be well again, and also prevents other students and staff from potentially catching any unwanted illness.
Knowing When to Stay Home
In accordance with SA Health, some illnesses require your child to stay home for certain periods. We refer to SA Health Fact Sheets and other information on the SA Health website. These Fact Sheets provide all the information including exclusion periods. (see https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/healthy+living/protecting+your+health/preventing+disease+and+infection/youve+got+what/youve+got+what)
For example, if your child shows signs of gastro (vomiting, diarrhoea or other) they are required to stay home during the infectious period (time during which an infected person can infect others) during the illness and for at least 24 hours after symptoms have disappeared.
COVID-19 Protocols
If a child develops COVID symptoms, they must not attend school and get tested as soon as possible.
Action to be undertaken:
Notify the school immediately if your child tests positive to COVID-19 and support them to isolate for 7 days. Families should seek clarification about isolation protocols from https://sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDpositive
Families can notify the school of their child’s absence and COVID status via the "Report Your Child Absent" tab on this website. We kindly ask that with a COVID positive notification, you advise us the date the test was taken and the type of test (PCR or RAT).
